Lil Kim’s “9” Is a Two-Part Album That Will Be Released “Really Soon”

The first season of Girl’s Cruise is officially over, and the cast reconnected to share more about their reality TV experience on the show’s reunion special. After talking at length about the series, host Jeannie Mai wanted to know details about Lil Kim’s forthcoming, highly-anticipated project 9. The veteran rapper has been hyping the release of her fifth studio album since the Spring without sharing when the record will hit the streets.

“Oh my gosh, it’s coming really really soon,” Kim said at the Girls Cruise reunion special. “That’s why I’ve been like, doing a lot of little promotional things. But, I will tell you this, I recorded so many songs. I have a part one and a part two,” the rapper revealed before the audience began screaming with excitement. Kim also shared that her Girls Cruise co-star and Instagram comedian Vena “Pretty Vee” Excell will be making an appearance on the record, as well.

“You know, it’s so funny because it was like, last minute,” Kim continued. “I have a song called ‘Fat Poom Poom,’ and she’s on that.” Vee then gave fans a taste of what to expect by dancing a bit and singing a brief snippet of the song. “Thank you so much,” Vee told Kim of giving her the opportunity. “It’s so good,” Kim said about the collaboration. Check it out below.

Lizzo Approves Fan Made Mashup Of “Truth Hurts” In Disney’s “The Aristocats”

We think it’s safe to say that Lizzo’s hit song “Truth Hurts” will be on rotation for a very long time considering the empowering verses and endless love people have for the singer. The track recently hit a milestone only Cardi B and Lauryn Hill had accomplished when the tune sat on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks. By no surprise at all, the song has now gotten a visual rendition when a fan used the song as a backing track over a beloved scene in Disney’s The Aristocats.

As seen in the clip below, instead of cats Berlioz and Marie singing their scales and arpeggios, they go off to “Truth Hurts” and it’s surprising how perfect the song fits in the scene. Lizzo was a fan of the mashup so much that she reshared it to her feed with a very Lizzo-esque caption: “THIS IS BIG PUSSY ENERGY.”

Lizzo recently shared a sweet post to her feed in tribute to her father who she thanked for showing her how to own her “power.”

“Happy birthday daddy I took all day to finally hear your gift… thank you for showing me my power, and thank you for reminding me not to be afraid of that power,” she wrote. “I still struggle with fear and anxiety… everyday is a struggle… but I know I can give my fears to you, and that you’ll always be there to protect me from above.”

Nick Cannon Embarrassed Himself In Front Of Oprah By Quoting “The Color Purple”

Despite their celebrity statuses, even the rich and famous are often star-struck. For those that didn’t grow up rubbing elbows with other famous figures, they were fans before they gained notoriety. In an honest moment, multi-hyphenated mogul Nick Cannon shared that one his most uncomfortable run-ins with another celebrity, revealing that it was when he was formally introduced to Oprah Winfrey.

Nick recently visited The Howard Stern Show and talked about the moment he decided to quote The Color Purple in front of the OWN mogul. Back in 1985, Oprah starred as Sofia in the classic Steven Spielberg film that was based on acclaimed novelist Alice Walker’s book of the same name. Nick, like millions of others, is a fan of the movie so he thought he would break the ice by dropping a line from one of Sofia’s iconic moments in the film.

“The first time I met Oprah I made the dumbest mistake,” Nick said. “Well, it wasn’t the first time I met her. I had seen her in passing and stuff but [this time] Mariah was on the show and we had just got married so this was my first face-to-face, like, real conversation with her. And so, we’re backstage in Chicago and Mariah did her thing on the show and she’s like, ‘Hey, Oprah, look, it’s Nick.'”

“One of my favorite movies is ‘The Color Purple,’ so, this was my opportunity to show Oprah how much I love ‘[The] Color Purple.’ So the first thing that comes out of my mouth was, ‘You told Harpo to beat me!'” Nick said as Stern laughed. “She looked at me. Mariah’s like, ‘I can’t believe you said that sh*t.’ And I’m thinking everybody’s gonna laugh!” He joked that things have been strange ever since. “Oprah look at [me]. We ain’t been on the same page since…That was the most awkward moment I’ve had.” He added, “We’ve seen each other on occasions, but every time I think she sees me she’s like, ‘That’s that motherf*cker that…'” Check out the funny clip below.

Ty Dolla $igns Gives Young Fan His Guitar At IndiGOAT Tour Concert

In just a few weeks, Chris Brown’s IndiGOAT Tour will come to a disappointing end. The singer has been on the road with Tory Lanez, Joyner Lucas, Yella Beezy, and Ty Dolla $ign, and all of the artists have rocked stages from coast-to-coast since August. We’ve often received videos on social media of Brown’s exceptional dance skills, yet, it was news of an interaction between Ty Dolla $ign and a young fan that tugged at heartstrings on Monday.

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch the IndiGOAT Tour live, then you’ve seen that Ty Dolla $ign has been gifting one lucky fan with a free guitar. There have been a few people who have shared their excitement about the singer-songwriter taking off the guitar he plays during his set and handing it over to them in the audience. “Front row seat, ty dolla sign handed me his guitar for me to have, and I’m on Chris Browns Instagram 💀 for my first concert, I’d say that was the ultimate concert experience 😭,” one fan tweeted.

On Monday, a short video clip went viral that showed a young boy at the IndiGOAT concert making his way down the stairs that led to the stage. When he arrives at the front of the crowd, he is greeted by Ty who gives him a hug and gifts him with his guitar. As the boy walks away, Ty is the in background bowing toward him. The boy, overwhelmed with emotion, begins crying uncontrollably. The woman recording, presumably, his mother, comforts him before the clip closes out. Check out the tender moment below, along with IndiGOAT concertgoers commenting on Ty Dolla $ign’s generosity.

Miley Cyrus Seemingly Shades Her Exes With Message On Loyalty & Love

Miley Cyrus has been through two breakups in a few weeks span which means she’s understandably feeling a type of way. The 26-year-old ended things with her husband Liam Hemsworth and one day later she was spotted with Kaitlynn Carter and the duo dated for a few weeks before breaking things off. While Miley and Kaitlynn are reported to be on good terms, the “Wrecking Ball” singer has shared a post to Instagram that explains a little bit of how she’s feeling right now.

Miley posted an image to her Instagram story that sees her laying in bed with her two dogs by her side. “Waking up surrounded by animals is my favorite way to start a morning. I am immediately reminded to LOVE without conditions,’ she wrote under the image. “The best part about animals is that they are careless about the details. They live by the golden rule … Love & Be Loved. Nothing in between. No questions regarding wealth, career, talents, race, age, sex …. They love back 100X…. All they ask is to be cared for in exchange for loyalty, reliability and faithfulness. (reminds me of someone).”

Miley’s also been sharing a string of images to her feed that proves she’s taken some time to herself at a gorgeous retreat somewhere in the sun that’s filled with picturesque hikes and mountains that appear to be very calming.

Remy Ma Defends Fat Joe In “State Of The Culture” N-Word Discussion: “He’s Black”

The “n-word” debate rages on, and this time the four co-hosts of State of the Culture talked about artists who “opt in and out of blackness.” During their recent discussion, Joe Budden brought up being at shows where white people would use it as a term of endearment. “If you speak to them, they’re gonna probably say or echo some of what Fat Joe was saying: ‘I grew up this way,'” Budden said. “And that’s my only issue when it comes to the multi-race conversation is I don’t have a choice. I love this black sh*t. I’m black, it’s rich, it’s heritage…”

“Let me stop you right there,” Remy said interjecting. It’s no secret that Fat Joe and Remy have a close relationship as longtime collaborators and good friends. She said, “People like Joe that grew up in the South Bronx, they didn’t have a choice, neither.” Budden added that he was going to mention that Fat Joe “has always been that. Black.” Remy continued that her friend has been that way his entire life. “I’ve seen pictures. I know his whole family. This didn’t happen when he decided to become a rapper or [an] artist. ‘Yeah, I’m gonna use the word n*gga because this sounds cool.’…He’s black. Like, that’s it.”

Budden, along with the other hosts, stated that they don’t have a problem with Fat Joe being black and saying the n-word, but Budden stated that he’s not comfortable with Logic saying it. Co-host Eboni K. Williams argued that she’s not okay with Jennifer Lopez saying “n*gga” in her lyrics to her 2001 hit song “I’m Real” featuring Ja Rule while later rejecting her blackness as her career propelled upward.

“My experience of her is someone who opts in and out of blackness as it is convenient for her,” Eboni said. Remy retorted that Jennifer Lopez was raised in the same neighborhood as Fat Joe. The rapper stated that people, like her co-hosts, often see artists such as Fat Joe or Lopez only as Latino and don’t allow them to identify as black. Check out the clip below and check what else Remy had to say about black people who reject their culture, below.

50 Cent Shares Why He Thinks Hip Hop Is Turning Into A Culture Of One-Hit Wonders

In his sit-down interview with The Hollywood Reporter50 Cent may have revealed that Eminem is working on an album, but he shared another interesting opinion about hip hop that got tongues wagging. The Power creator chatted with the publication about the final season of his hit show as well as to introduce the sequel, Power Book 2: Ghost, but he added a few remarks about the current state of hip hop and why we’ll be seeing more one-hit wonders than ever before.

“Hip hop is youth connected,” he said. “They have a low attention span. You’ll have to see way more artists come and have one hit and disappear now because of how we’re consuming music,” Fif continued before he spoke about how things have changed since he stepped onto the rap scene in the mid-1990s.

In a social media-driven culture, artists are able to connect with audiences more quickly and don’t rely on relationships with industry professionals in order to shape their careers or rise to fame. “They meet the audience before they meet the record companies and because they’re not getting bumped around as much as we was getting bumped around before you got your shot,” he said, “They’re going to take off and be on the road, running around, having the time of their life before their pre-conditioned to write music. And then when they come back and slow down, they’re not going to be able to write a hit record to save their life.”

When asked about the future of his music career now that he’s become a film and television mogul, Fifty replied, “I’m so conditioned to music, I’ve been writing music since [the ’90s],” he said. “I don’t really need to stop to do it. I can write on the plane. I can write wherever I’m going. That’s how I did my first three albums, ’cause I didn’t really stop touring. So, we did it moving.” Check out his interview below and let us know what you think about his comments on one-hit wonders.

Beyoncé & Adele To Feature On OneRepublic Song Together

While the pop rock band, OneRepublic, has built a name for itself through multiple hit songs – like “Apologize,” “Counting Stars” and “If I Lose Myself” – its lead vocalist, Ryan Tedder, also commands a lot of respect for his songwriting contributions to other artists. Tedder has worked with most of this century’s biggest pop artists, including Beyoncé and Adele. He has writing credits on Beyoncé’s 2008 album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, most notably the her Grammy award-winning song, “Halo.” He continued to work with Bey on her next two albums, as well. In regards to Adele, he played a role in penning her hits, “Turning Tables” and “Rumour Has It.”

Now, Tedder is calling in favors from these superstars for the sake of OneRepublic’s next record, set for a 2020 release. Backstage at Global Citizen’s benefit concert in Central Park this past weekend, Tedder revealed in an interview that he has enlisted Beyoncé and Adele to appear ON THE SAME TRACK. As if this wasn’t enough star power for a single song to contain, Coldplay’s Chris Martin will be playing piano on the bridge. When the interviewer from Z100 New York started bashfully asking for any secrets about OneRepublic’s upcoming record, Tedder interrupted him to share the details of this major collaboration, as if he could barely contain his excitement.

We’re excited to hear how the song turns out, too.

Iggy Azalea Trolls Lizzo & Fans After “Fancy” Snub, Says It Was All In Good Fun

Things got a bit testy over on Twitter today after Lizzo encouraged her fans to help her in her quest to take hold of a new title. The “Truth Hurts” singer shared that if her hit song could hold onto its Billboard No. 1 spot for just two more weeks, it would become the “longest female rap #1 of all time.” In the same tweet, she shared that “Fancy” currently holds the title, never mentioning Iggy Azalea’s name in her message.

However, in a follow-up tweet, Lizzo did happen to shout out her friend and the singer responsible for the chorus on “Fancy”: Charli XCX. “Fancy is a BOP and my homie @charli_xcx is genius on it,” Lizzo said before she told everyone to stream Chari’s new album. It didn’t take long before Iggy’s fans accused Lizzo of shading the rapper, so the Australian artist spewed out a few tweets of her own.

“I could have sworn I was the one rapping that song but okay…” Iggy began. A fan told her that she was scared Lizzo would take her title, but Iggy’s response noted that Lizzo never mentioned she was even on the song. “What exactly am I scared of? I’m not on fancy only Charli is! She should be scared,” the rapper replied.

Iggy decided to show just how petty she could be and changed her Twitter photo to that of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, urging her fans to stream their song, “Señorita,” which currently sits under Lizzo at No. 2. After a posting and deleting a series of tweets, Iggy assured fans that she wasn’t being serious with her shady responses. “Listen, I’m down to be petty in the name of a laugh or two but in all seriousness I’m just trolling and laughing at all the funny replies,” she wrote. “I promise it’s not serious; at least not for me.”
