DaBaby Won’t Be Trading Diss Tracks: “That’s Gonna Distract You From The Art”

There are some artists who live for battle raps and diss tracks. They pride themselves with being so crafty with their pens and delivery that when it comes to battling another artist—whether it be by taking the time to write out their lyrics or spit a few bars off the top of their heads—they jump at the opportunity. Not all rappers or emcees like to go tit-for-tat with their fellow artists, and in a recent interview, DaBaby revealed that he’s chosen not to entertain rappers who attempt to come at him in hopes of receiving a scathing response.

When speaking about the new generation of rappers boasting that they’re the best or the “greatest rapper alive,” DaBaby stated that it’s easy for them because we live in a social media-driven culture. Things are different from previous generations who let their music—not their Instagram—speak on their behalf.

“All that they had then was the music to back up what they were saying,” DaBaby began. “When [Lil] Wayne said he was the best rapper alive, he didn’t say that sh*t on Instagram. He said that sh*t on his album. Immediately after saying it, it was at the beginning of his song, he gave you music to back it. He gave you an entire song and repeated itself in the hook that he’s the best rapper alive. And then, he gave you a complete body of work, a legendary body of work right after it.”

DaBaby added that if a rapper states that they’re the “greatest rapper alive” in today’s culture, “it’s so much easier for you to be a target.” In his opinion, as soon as an artist boasts as being the greatest, another rapper will just jump on their phone to declare that they’re better. “Then you’re gonna change the whole narrative of everything you got goin’ on. Now all people are gonna be worried about is you versus this person instead of you just becoming better and just thriving to be the best you are.

He did clarify why it’s different when he makes the declaration of being the best rapper alive. “I don’t gotta say I’m better than you or tell you the difference between me and you,” he said. “I don’t gotta do that in order to display who I am or how great I think I am.” He added that when it comes to people tossing negative comments or bars his way, he’s not worried about it. “I’ve been gettin’ rocks thrown at me the whole time.”

“You ain’t gon’ see me doin’ no battle rap,” he said. “You just don’t get thrown into a rock throwing competition. At the end of he day, that’s gonna distract you from the art. That’s gonna distract you from the money, too. You can’t talk about my mama and be in the same room as me. We ain’t playin’ like that. I can’t even play like that, so I ain’t even gon’ sit here and act like I’m cool with that.” Chack out his interview with RapPack below.

Kevin McCall Shares Lullaby For Daughter After Losing Custody Battle With Eva Marcille

Kevin McCall has pulled in another loss since his fight to get custody of his daughter he shares with Eva Marcille did not go through. Kevin attended court weeks ago, looking to gain custody of Marley Rae Sterling and while he was there he got arrested after getting in a physical altercation with a security guard when he was caught filming. The Blast reports that the case has been dismissed since Kevin failed to show at the latest court appointment.

In light of the news, Kevin has taken to Instagram to upload a couple of lullabies to his daughter. The first sees him singling solo while playing the piano, while the second looks as though Marley could be in the background, presumably an older video.

“This is what’s so crazy about it. He was arrested going into court for a case he filed against me,” Eva said of the situation with her abusive ex. “More recently, he drew a suit against me for child support—which is amazing because he’s never given a cent and I’ve raised our child—but child support, custody, and…I’ve recently changed my daughter’s name from his last name to our family name which is Sterling, and he now wants to reverse that.”

Texas Mother Creates App That Locates Black Santas For Kids To Relate To

Most movies and television shows that feature Santa Claus almost always show the fictitious character as a white man who’s eaten too many cookies in a red and white suit. While the depiction of Santa as such has gone on for years and years, a Texas mom by the name of Jihan Woods has created an app that shakes up the expectations of what Santa should like for the sake of her kids.

Jihan launched her app Find Black Santa Claus back in 2018 and the platform lists Black Santas across 35 states in the U.S as well as Canada, The Netherlands, Norway and London, England. “Specifically for Black children, its really important in racial or ethnic identity development that children see figures whether it’s in the media, mythical figures like Santa Claus, because it’s really helpful for their identity development,” Jihan said of her creation. “It’s important to me that [my children] experience diversity in all aspects of their lives, Santa included.”

Jihan raised $5,000 USD in 30 days on Kickstarter. “My ultimate vision is to become your go-to source for all things Black Santa. By hiring and managing a team of Black Santas nationwide even more families can be reached to experience Black Santa during the holiday season.”

Remy Ma & Papoose Celebrate Daughter’s 1st Birthday With “KenzieLand” Party

He kept it real with Joe Budden on Monday’s premiere of Love & Hip Hop New York regarding the podcast host’s frayed relationship with Cyn Santana, and Papoose regularly proves that he practices what he preaches. He and Remy Ma have been a hip hop couple who have weathered storms together, including Remy’s years-long incarceration. He held her down while she was behind bars, and upon her release, the couple got to work on rebuilding their family and empire.

They shared their journey of wanting to expand their family with the world, including suffering a devastating miscarriage. The two desperately wanted to have a child together and in December 2018, they welcomed their baby girl, Reminisce Mackenzie, into the world. The rap couple recently celebrated Baby Remy’s first birthday by hosting a Candyland-themed event, aptly titled Kenzie Land. The toddler’s parents went all out for the get-together that had a playpen, multiple cakes, hundreds of balloons, and everything a kid could ask for.

Remy, Papoose, and guests shared photos of the event, and even Fat Joe had to give the little girl a shout out for her big day. “This is my Babyyyyy @reminiscemackenziemackie,” Joe wrote on Instagram. “I want everyone to wish my God daughter Happy Bday ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Family Ties.” Swipe through to check out a few photos from the extravagant birthday party below.

Doja Cat Says Rolling Loud L.A. Had “F*cking Terrible” Crowd & Bad Sound System

Over the weekend, dozens of hip hop artists descended onto Rolling Loud L.A. The California crowd seemed to enjoy watching some of their favorite artists take to the festival’s stages, including Doja Cat who recently released her sophomore album. During her performance, there were a few hecklers who commented on whether or not she was lip-syncing, and after she left the stage, some critics took to social media with claims that the rapper gave a lackluster performance.

Doja Cat caught wind of the remarks being made about her set at Rolling Loud L.A. so she took to social media to address the criticisms. “I just really want the audience at rolling loud to know that the sound system wasn’t good and I couldn’t hear myself that’s why I sounded like sh*t. Also the crowd was f*cking terrible everybody looked like they were strung out. I wasn’t performing for y’all in the first place.”

She then began to list cities that have the best crowds. “Paris is the f*cking BEYONCÉ of crowds. SPECTACULAR, AMAZING, WONDERFUL, EXQUISITE, TREMENDOUSLY PERFECT CROWD,” she wrote. “PARIS, LONDON, HOUSTON, IRELAND, SAN FRANCISCO, AUSTRALIA HAVE THE BEST CROWDS IN HISTORY EVER B*TCH. NOBODY CAN TOUCH THEM WHAT SO EVER. (Just to name a few though.)” She tacked on New York, as well.

For those who disagreed with her, Doja took the time to tell them exactly what she thought of their opinions. Check out a clip of her Rolling Loud L.A. performance along with a few of her reactions below.

Madonna’s Seemingly Dating Her 25-Year-Old Back Up Dancer Ahlamalik Williams

Madonna hasn’t seriously been linked to anyone romantically as of late but things may change since the 61-year-old singer has been spotted getting cozy with a man very much her junior. The “Like A Virgin” songstress was seen on a balcony in Miami this past weekend with 25-year-old dancer Ahlamalik Williams, as the youngin caressed her and massaged her shoulders.

By the looks of Ahlamalik’s Instagram, he does backup choreography for Madonna and labeled Madonna and his colleague “Warriors with a message” in a post on his grid. On the same balcony, Madonna was seen posted up with her daughter, Lourdes, 23, and her boyfriend who looks older than Madonna’s.

Madonna is 61 and her current (alleged) boyfriend is 25. We have to give her the same treatment we give Leo DiCaprio but y’all not ready for that conversation,” one Twitter user said of the possible couplingPage Six says Madonna and her new fling have been somewhat of an item for a few months now. Considering her past flings with men younger than her – such as dancers Brahim Zaibat, Jesus Luz, and Timor Steffens – we’ll have to see how long this coupling lasts.

You know you’re old when Madonna’s current boyfriend is younger than you,” another Twitter user wrote

O.T. Genasis Laments That “Never Knew” Music Video Was Pulled From YouTube

It may have taken Keyshia Cole a bit to warm up to O.T. Genasis’s cover of her song, but the R&B singer said she understood that the rapper was having a bit of fun. Initially, Keyshia said she was confused about the Long Beach rapper’s rendition of her classic hit “Love,” but audiences couldn’t get enough of O.T. Genasis’s Crip-inspired “Never Knew.” Clips began to surface on social media showing people at house parties belting out the rapper’s new single, and he even shared a video of a live crowd singing along to the top of their lungs.

“Bruno Mars, he made a video for Valentine’s Day. I was like, that’s crazy,” Keyshia said of “Love” on Instagram Live. She added, “He sung the whole song, but he sung it the way I wrote it, and I’m just used to that. So, I felt like it was a real surprise when I heard [O.T. Genasis] do it in a different way. That’s where my confusion came in at…But, I think it’s funny as hell.”

There must have been enough people who didn’t see the humor in it because on Tuesday, Genasis took to his Instagram to share some sad news. “They took ‘Never Knew’ down from YouTube…Somebody hated on my sh*t smh!” He captioned the text image with, “Damn cuzz ..Somebody don’t like me lol.”

Some people commented that it was Keyshia’s fault, but the singer hasn’t responded to the accusations. However, from her Instagram Live, it didn’t seem as if Keyshia was concerned enough to get “Never Knew” taken off of YouTube. Hopefully, O.T. Genasis can get it all straightened out.

Cuba Gooding Jr. Still Partying As Sexual Misconduct Claims Rise

Cuba Gooding Jr. has now been accused of sexual misconduct by 22 women. The first accusation came in this past summer when the Snow Dogs actor was at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar in Manhattan and he was accused of groping a women’s breast. While Cuba has maintained his innocence, detailing how he has faith in the system, more and more women came out of the woodwork accusing him of similar inappropriate behavior from years back.

One unidentified woman detailed a time back in 2009 when Cuba made unauthorized advances on her even after she told him no. The women claimed Cuba put “his hand forcefully into the crotch area of her tights, placing his fingers on her anus.” Despite the growing accusations against his name, Cuba is still in the mood to party alongside his girlfriend Claudine De Niro who’s still by his side.

According to Page Six, the duo was most recently partying at Rockwell nightclub in Miami and a source told the publication that they “looked extremely happy. They were in great spirits, dancing, having fun.” Cuba has been spotted numerous times partying and hitting clubs since the cases came to light.

“I trust the system, and the process speaks for itself,” Cuba said when he was first accused. “All I have to say is the following, in this time and age we need to let people speak for themselves, we have to let people express themselves. And now I’m giving the process the chance to show what really happened, what went down.”

Gucci Mane Dropping “East Atlanta Santa 3” Right Before Christmas

Santa Claus isn’t the only one who comes bearing gifts this holiday season. Gucci Mane, too, will be coming through with a little something for the fans. The rapper hit Instagram and Twitter to announce the third instalment in everyone’s favorite holiday-themed mixtape series will be arriving this Friday. Sharing the cover for East Atlanta Santa 3, he simply told fans that this Friday, “He Returns.”

Now, this will mark Gucci Mane’s third project of the year following Woptober IIand Delusion Of Grandeur. It appears that he’s been getting ready to launch this new project over the past few weeks, even if he just announced it a few hours ago. Now, maybe you remember a few posts from Gucci Mane over the past few days where he was dressed up in a white fur jacket, shades, a red turtleneck and a Santa Claus hat on as he strolled the streets of New York. It just so happened that Gucci Mane wasn’t the only one dressed up as Santa that day, although he was the flyest. The rapper walked the streets for SantaCon and undoubtedly won the event. There wasn’t any other Santas that were as icy as the East Atlanta Santa.

We really haven’t heard much music from Gucci since Woptober II but considering it is Christmas, we wouldn’t be opposed if this is Gucci Mane’s official Christmas album.

HBO Announces Return Of Drake’s Beloved “Euphoria”

As the year comes to a close, we can look back at some of the best series to hit the airwaves and luckily for HBO, they’re a trusted destination for some of the best, most addictive content that fans have streamed in 2019. Aside from the ultra-popular Game of Thrones, HBO is known for Avenue 5, The Outsider, Westworld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and many more. This year, the latest offering to hit the catalog was Euphoria.

The wildly popular show pulled in lots of fans thanks to Drake being just one of the executive producers. The premise is based on 17-year-old Rue who leaves rehab and has no plans on staying clean. The series depicts her life and youth struggles, as well as those she goes to school with and sees at any given party or event on the weekends. The last episode of season one left fans (and myself) on the edge and while we patiently wait for news on when season two arrives HBO has given us hope that it will be in 2020 based on the latest trailer of what’s to come next year.

While the clip provides no information on where the new episodes will kick off, it does provide us with a confirmation that the network is working on it – along with dozens more of their series.
