Kevin Durant Will Join The Brookyln Nets

As promised, Kevin Durant has officially announced his decision to move forward with the Brooklyn Nets, migrating away from the West Coast with The Board Room making the official announcement via Instagram Sunday evening.

The post indicates that the deal is a max contract, meaning that the superstar will earn $164 million with Brooklyn over the next four years.

It marks a major disappointment for the New York Knicks who were, for some time, the frontrunners in courting Durant pending his free agency. More than likely, Durant won’t touch the court at Barclays Center during this first season as he recovers from a torn Achilles suffered during this last stint with the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors were prepared to keep Durant, offering the player a five-year $221 million max deal. It ultimately proved to be ineffective. Durant will now join Kyrie Irving who is slated to confirm his deal with Brooklyn as well. Reports also suggest that DeAndre Jordan, a close friend of KD’s, could very well follow behind him and head to New York as well.

July 6th is the date in which all deals will be finalized.

Gallant Drops Off “Sharpest Edges” Video

After sharing his T-Pain-assisted “Gentleman,” Gallant returned this month with his first new drop of the year with his “Sharpest Edges” single. Now, the crooner touches down to deliver on a visual supplement for the track, crafting an homage to a woman that seems to be bad for his health as he battles somewhere between staying or leaving.

In the clip, the illustrated woman follows Gallant around his home up until he has finally freed himself of her, but not before she pierces his window with a high heel in a good old-fashioned moment of vindication.

Catch the Bennett Johnson-directed clip up top.

Cat Gets Stuck In Washing Machine & Survives Full Cycle

If you own a cat, you know that you need to look out for your little ones every time you’re doing regular chores. If you need to take out the garbage, you’ve got to make sure your cats don’t follow you outside. When you’re running the washing machine, you should probably check to see if any of your furry friends are chilling inside before letting the water run. Let this be a reminder of that. Minnesota resident Stefani Carroll-Kirchoff is lucky to still have one-year-old Felix around because she accidentally forgot to check if he was inside the washing machine before starting a cycle, letting Felix spin around in the water for thirty-five minutes. Somehow, the kitty used some of his nine lives to survive the traumatic experience and is expected to make a full recovery.

As reported by CNN, Felix the Cat lived to meow about his experience inside of the washing machine. He was on a scary ride through an express cycle with warm water and a cold rinse. Once Carroll-Kirchoff spotted Felix’s paw blended in with her wet clothes, she freaked out and rushed him to the veterinarian’s office.

Felix suffered vision loss and pneumonia as a result of all the water in his lungs but he’s expected to make a full recovery. He has started eating again but he remains on oxygen. Rest up, Felix!

L.A.’s Amoeba Music Set To Relocate With A Dispensary License

Los Angeles record store Amoeba Music’s continues to flourish in an era where physical CD’s have died out. Unfortunately, where they’re currently located at will be getting demolished in favor of a 26-story apartment complex. The property was sold in 2015 to GPI Companies but in 2018, Marc Weinstein, Amoeba’s co-owner, said that wouldn’t be moving too far from their only location.

With a new location “within blocks” of its original location, they’ll be jumping into the cannabis industry as they announced plans to acquire a dispensary license at their new location. The move to open up a dispensary inside of their record store is an effort to expand “profit streams in a music retail landscape that has been on a steady decline since the rise of downloadable digital files in the late 1990s.” They previously did the same with Amoeba’s location in Berkley which served as their first cannabis dispensary. Weinstein assured that they’ll be looking into getting all the necessary permits and “be diligent” in doing so before launching their second dispensary.

Even with streaming, Weinstein is confident that people still want to have a physical copy of albums. “Some people like to have the whole artifact curated just as the artist wanted. That experience is something people relate to across all age groups. I see so many people my age [repurchasing] vinyl albums that they’d long since sold off. They’re really amazing physical objects that represented the artist’s work. There’s nothing comparable to that in the digital world,” he said.

Jimmy Butler’s Meeting With Miami Heat, Twitter Rumblings Fuel Speculation

Despite everyone’s best efforts to fit Jimmy Butler on a speculative Houston Rockets’ roster leading up to next season – all the signs point towards him taking his talents to Miami Beach. How’s about a timeline to bring us up to speed. Like anything else NBA-related with a measure of truth behind it, the Butler-to-Miami came to a head the moment Adrian Wojnarowski dropped a “Woj Bomb” with Jimmy’s name written on it.

According to the ESPN Insider, Butler either met or is going to meet Miami Heat officials at an undisclosed location in South Florida. He does insist that while, Miami Heat is a more ideal fit, given his needs and wants, Butler will meet the Rockets later in the week, and is reportedly open to talking shop with his current employers in Philadelphia shortly thereafter.

Woj’s Tweet, while altogether inconclusive, did the rumor going, to the point where Jimmy himself felt the need to join the discussion. In a series of Tweets with his famous friends, Chad Johnson, and the recently-retired Dwyane Wade, Butler gave off the impression that Miami is the ideal fit/destination for reasons he fell short of explaining (on a public forum).

“Nah bro. Let’s kill that rumor now,” Wade wrote to Jimmy in jest. “It would only be for the HEAT!” Unfortunately, Wade’s reverse psychology had no effect on Butler, who placated his former teammates with a reply of, “hey big head.”

Next up was Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson demanding that Butler commit himself to Miami at once – but again, Jimmy held firm, this time informing the ex-NFLer that once he’s come to his decision, he’d be the first to know via phone.

Kevin Feige Addresses “Black Panther 2” Killmonger Rumors

Although Erik Killmonger was a villain in Black Panther, he inspired millions of comic book fans. His passion and his mission came from a place of real emotion, which made him more relatable than any villain the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever offered. Since the conclusion of the film, which ends in his death, fans have been speculating that Killmonger would return. Of course, there is the possibility of him appearing in the same spiritual plane as other Wakandans or even him being resurrected through some multi-verse connections. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, shot down all the speculation on BET though.

“Pure rumor,” explained Feige of the Killmonger speculation. “The honest answer to that is that is pure rumor and speculation, because Mr. Coogler is just only in recent weeks sitting down at his keyboard and beginning to outline the movie. It’s early, so nothing is set yet in any way that far, because Mr. Coogler is sitting down and will share it with Nate Moore and myself in coming weeks.” It will be interesting to see where the next Black Panther movie will head, but keep in mind, Feige has lied to fans before to conceal spoilers. He famously stated that the final Avengers film would not be called Endgame.

Everything “Wrong” With “Captain Marvel” Is Compiled In This Video: Watch

There a number of highly-received entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are members of the billion-dollar club, including Captain Marvel. But, as we’ve we all know, that doesn’t mean it’s exempt from the infamous CinemaSins take-down. In a convenient super-cut that sits just under 17 minutes, everything that is supposedly wrong with the movie is highlighted for your viewing pleasure.

Things take off with a bad start, as the boilerplate witty banter fight sequence is shown, and from there it’s highlighted that the movie takes a little too long to explain Carol Danvers’ backstory – in which she’s told she’s not good enough more often than is probably necessary. Nothing is safe though, as the video proceeds to rip apart all the ’90s references, as well as, the placement of the VHS tapes in the Blockbuster store she crash lands in. In total, CinemaSins deduces that Captain Marvel has a whopping total of 97 movie sins. As a reference, they pointed out that the (arguably, even more) brilliant Black Panther had 105, while the lengthy Avengers: Infinity War had 128. Still, despite its “sins,” the Brie Larson film reviewed remarkably well, snagging an impressive 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. While it isn’t as universally praised as some of the strongest Marvel movies, it’s clear that it has its fans.

Jake Gyllenhaal Dons Mysterio Bowl For Post “Spider-Man” Bender

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to hit North American theatres on July 2nd, but it would appear that actor Jake Gyllenhaal is already having trouble moving on. Though it’s still too early to tell whether this dashing, heroic variant of Mysterio is here to stay, or if he’ll reveal his true Comic-Book colors by the time the third act rolls around, it seems as if the Oscar nominee had a grand old time playing the iconic character. So much so, that he appears to be suffering from the rare yet undoubtedly potent “post Spider-Man premiere blues.”

The Sean Paul connoisseur recently took to Instagram to share visual evidence of his fishbowl-clad bender, which brought him to some unexpected depths. Picture Mysterio sitting by a bar, attempting to drown his sorrows in frothy ale, only to remember he neglected to design a sippy-hole. Meanwhile, the plate of comfort food remains destined to go untouched, another side-effect of Mysterio’s poor costume design choices.

Though depressing to behold, director John Watts seemed to find the whole thing rather amusing. “This should have been our post-credits tag,” he writes, sliding into Jake’s comments. Hopefully, Gyllenhaal can once again land on his feet, as the acting world sure as hell needs the likes of him. You looking forward to that new Spider-Man joint?

Henry Cavill To Play Sherlock Holmes In Upcoming “Enola Holmes” Adaptation

Following his role as Superman, Henry Cavill will be putting his thinking cap on for his next movie. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the 36-year old actor will be playing Sherlock Holmes in director Harry Bradbeer’s upcoming film, Enola Holmes.

The film is an adaptation of Nancy Springer’s novels, which began with The Case of the Missing Marquess in 2006, and tells the story of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ much younger sister, Enola, who is led & played by Strangers Things star Millie Bobby Brown.

In addition to that, Helena Bonham Carter will reportedly play Enola’s mother. As for her other sibling Mycroft, it’s still unknown who will be playing him.

The story was written by Jack Thorne, which reportedly involves a missing teen whose father has been murdered. It’s unclear at the moment when the movie will begin filming or be released for that matter, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
